Link Building
Link Building drives targeted traffic
and can boost your search engine rankings
Your Link Popularity and PageRank grow from who you link with – and who links with them.
First, what is “link popularity”?
“Link pop” is a measure of the quantity and quality of sites that link with your site. It is one of the factors used by most search engines’ algorithms in determining a site’s search engine ranking.
What does Google say?
Google’s web site says the following about PageRank, their proprietary ranking system: “In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote by page A for page B. But Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves ‘important’ weigh more heavily and help to make other pages important.”
Quality or quantity of links? No contest!
A quick search for “link popularity” reveals an eager army of providers promising to link you to 100s, even 1000s, of sites. Ignore them. Known in the business as “link farms” or “link exchanges”, they’re likely to do your site more harm than good. Search engines are very proactive in preserving their ranking mechanisms, and are now penalizing sites that attempt to buffalo them with mass numbers. Search engines look for quality, relevancy – and reward it when they find it. Why? Because a relevant incoming link is like a compliment to your site. It’s peer recognition, an indicator that your site contains something the linking site feels is unique or generally important for its own visitors to see.
The benefits of good link popularity
Leave aside page ranking for a moment. The core benefit of a network of good, relevant links within your market niche is the targeted, consistent traffic driven to your site. In effect, you draw from the established traffic of the linking sites – and from sites linking to them. Unlike search engine rankings and paid web advertising, you can usually rely upon link campaign traffic for years to come, with no recurring cost. The second benefit is improvement in your search engine rankings. However, a cautionary note here… “link pop” is a positive factor, but it’s not the Holy Grail that some navel-gazing gurus would have you believe. An excellent link popularity campaign will have some impact on your site’s ranking, but nothing is guaranteed, and the value is somewhat of a moving target, as search engines continually adjust their ranking algorithms. Link pop is not a “secret weapon” – it’s one valuable and effective tool in the SEO/SEM pro’s toolbox.
Hendy Media Link Popularity enhancement services
We’re not link pop obsessed. We will not undertake worthless link popularity campaigns to artificially boost rankings. If your site has worthiness to link to, and lacks a network of relevant inbound links, we can help. However, links must be relevant, complimentary, and in general drive traffic to your website in a natural manner. If the search engines like the links we build for you – all the better. When we undertake the link-enhancement process on your behalf, we begin with a thorough review of your site. In the process, we seek to understand your business and your marketplace, and gain insight into your overall marketing plan. Then using what we have learned, and working with your site’s content and your keyword strategy, we seek out appropriate link partners whose sites will be visited by your intended audience.
Increasing Link Popularity doesn’t happen overnight
The initial steps of the link partner identification process can take 10-20 business days. Over that period, we’re identifying the best link partners on major search engines, in directories, at vertical industry portal sites (vortals), in discussion lists and forums, eDigests, edited Web guides, ezines, Webzines, blogs, online publications and print yellow page Web directories. We investigate every potential link partner site individually, assessing their market relevance against criteria for site content, search engine reputation, and traffic. Our criteria include:
- Is the Web site a good match for your site content and objectives?
- Is the Web site a “link farm”? If so, we avoid it!
- Does the site actively seek site link submissions?
- Does the site represent a strong chance for inclusion?
- Will the site provide you with networking potential – including links out to other related sites within your niche market?
- If a potential link site measures up well against our criteria, we contact them and make them aware of your Web business via personal email or an online form requesting permission to link to them.
The process requires patience
The paybacks for link-popularity enhancement are never apparent immediately, and gaining the longer-term advantages does require patience from you, the client – and equally patient, on-going work from your provider. Some sites will not link back to sites seeking link popularity. Others simply take their time about it. Realistically, you can expect a span of five months or more after the links are posted for all the incoming links to be established and your campaign to begin showing results. Meanwhile, our role is to continue the ongoing process – finding and adding new link partners to your links list… identifying and chopping out the deadwood of defunct or non-linking sites… and generating new easy-upload HTML pages that match your existing links page design precisely.
The ongoing campaign involves no recurring cost
